A sinister steel serpent clamps predatory jaws tightly around a resilient network of glass. Both alluring and haunting, this sculpture depicts the tension between chaos and coherence. The glass lattice symbolizes a paradise born out of unprecedented connectivity fueled by technology. The lattice mixes and weaves different colors of glass as molten glass once flowed through plaster capillaries during casting. Movement and integration; are processes that give our networks strength.

Yet, despite every advance, we find ourselves unable to escape our serpentine desires for power. The steel serpent’s construction is robust, reminiscent of a battle tank. Like a relic that has existed since the dawn of time, it has battle scars and scratches. It’s dynamic and elusive, camouflaged with a dark rainbow patina. Its fangs inject a venom of manipulation into our networks to drive dissent, destruction, and weaponize our connectivity.

Will our sinister desires swallow whole all that we’ve built, plunging us into darkness? Or can we resist the tension of the serpent’s jaws through collection action and alliance?
